Anger management counseling at The Bonding Corner looks at what triggers your anger, what happens in the seconds before it, and the effect it has on people at home or work. Individual sessions run 60 minutes for Rs. 2,000 online with psychologist Zahid Sohail in English, Urdu or Punjabi.

If anyone at home is being hurt, threatened or frightened, their safety comes first. Counseling is not a substitute for protection. Contact local emergency services if someone is in danger now.
When it is worth a session
When is anger worth a session?
Anger itself is not the problem. It becomes one when the reaction is bigger than the situation, when it arrives faster than you can think, or when the people around you have started managing you rather than talking to you.
The usual trigger for booking is an incident: something said in front of children, something broken, or a face you saw on someone you love. People rarely come because of the anger itself. They come because of that look.
What people describe
Any two of these are enough reason to book.
- Going from irritation to shouting in seconds
- Regret and shame afterwards, then defensiveness when it is raised
- Family avoiding topics, or timing conversations around your mood
- Anger at home that never appears at work, where it would cost you
- Physical tension, clenching or a jaw that aches by evening
- Apologising repeatedly for the same thing
In session
What can a session focus on?
The seconds before
There is almost always a physical signal before the reaction. Finding yours is where usable control starts.
What sits underneath
Anger frequently sits on top of humiliation, fear or exhaustion. Naming the layer underneath changes the response.
The cost, counted honestly
What it has cost at home, at work and in your own sense of yourself, stated plainly rather than minimised.
Repair that actually repairs
Apology that names the effect rather than explaining the provocation.
Anger at home, and who else is affected
Anger is rarely contained to the person feeling it. Partners and children adjust around it, and that adjustment can outlast the anger by years.
Where the pattern sits inside a marriage or a household, joint sessions may be more useful than individual ones, but only where everyone attending is safe and attending by choice.
See marriage counseling or family counseling if the pattern involves the household.

Where counseling is not enough
Some situations need more than a weekly conversation, and saying so early is part of the work.
- Where someone is being hurt or controlled, protection comes before therapy.
- Where anger follows a head injury, a medical condition or a medication change, a doctor should be involved.
- Where alcohol or substances are part of the pattern, that needs addressing alongside.
- Where a court or employer requires a formal anger-management programme, this is not that programme.

What the research says
- Most people feel angry sometimes. NHS guidance suggests pausing before reacting and talking to someone outside the situation, and recommends professional help when anger is affecting your life or relationships. [1]
- Talking therapies involve speaking with a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and are used for a wide range of difficulties. [2]

Questions, answered
Questions people ask.
Which therapy is best for anger issues?
Anger work usually focuses on triggers, the physical build-up before an outburst and the effect on other people, using structured talking methods. Where violence is present, safety of the people affected comes before therapeutic work.
What does anger management counseling involve?
Looking at the reaction that arrives before you choose it: what precedes it, what it costs at home, and what a different response would take. The work is practical rather than moral.
How much does anger management counseling cost?
Rs. 2,000 for a 60-minute individual session, or Rs. 3,000 for a 90-minute session if a partner or family member attends with you.
Can anger management be done online?
Yes. Sessions run by video or audio call in English, Urdu or Punjabi. Online delivery suits ongoing work rather than moments of crisis.
Should my partner attend anger management sessions?
Not necessarily at first. Individual sessions look at your part of the pattern. Joint sessions become useful when both people want to change how a recurring conflict runs.
