Who you will speak to

Who will you be speaking with?

Every session at The Bonding Corner is with Zahid Sohail. He holds an MSc in Applied Psychology and a PGD in Applied Psychology, and has more than 15 years in practice. There is no rotating panel and no matching algorithm: you speak to the same person each time.

He works in English, Urdu and Punjabi, and you can move between them mid-sentence. He does not prescribe medication, and says so plainly when a concern belongs with a psychiatrist or a physician.

What people bring to a session

Most first sessions start with something that has been going on for months.

  • Low mood, loss of interest, sleep and energy that have changed
  • Worry that will not switch off, panic, avoidance
  • Pressure from work, money, study or health that has become constant
  • Anger that arrives faster than you expect, and the regret afterwards
  • A marriage or relationship pattern that keeps returning
  • Conflict with parents, adult children or in-laws in a shared home

Ways to talk

How do sessions work?

Three formats, one psychologist. Choose the one your home and your comfort allow.

01

Video or audio call

Scheduled, private and held from wherever you can close a door. Individual sessions run 60 minutes, couple sessions 90. Audio only is a normal choice and uses far less data.

Rs. 2,000 individual · Rs. 3,000 couple

02

WhatsApp text chat

Write when you can, receive replies on agreed days within an agreed window. It suits a house where a spoken session would be overheard. It is not a live chat and not a crisis line.

Privacy

Is online counseling private?

What you say in a session stays between you and the counselor, within the limits set out in the privacy policy. The practice does not contact your family, your employer or anyone else about your sessions.

The part worth thinking about is your own end: a room where you will not be overheard, headphones, and awareness that a text plan leaves a record on your phone.

Where confidentiality ends

Two limits apply, and they are the same limits any responsible practice works under.

  • Where there is a serious and immediate risk to someone’s life.
  • Where disclosure is required by law.
  • Booking and payment records are handled separately from what is discussed in a session.

What counseling here is not

Being specific about the limits is more useful than a disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

  • Not a prescription service. A psychologist does not prescribe or adjust medication.
  • Not a crisis line. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or go to a hospital emergency department.
  • Not a promise of an outcome, a cure or a fixed number of sessions.
  • Not a replacement for medical assessment where symptoms are severe, sudden or worsening.

Counseling can run alongside medical care, and many people use both.

What the research says

  • Most people living with a mental health condition do not receive effective care. Only about one in three people with depression gets formal mental health care. [1]
  • A 2018 systematic review comparing guided internet-based and face-to-face cognitive behavioural therapy found the two formats gave broadly equivalent results, while noting more research is still needed for some conditions. [2]
  • A review of a decade of research found couple therapy helped around 70% of couples who received it, with results comparable to individual therapy. [3]
