What you are describing, the checking plus the specific detail that you do not believe your own memory of having checked, is a recognised pattern and it has a name your doctor or a psychiatrist would use. I am not going to attach a label to you from a paragraph, but I want to be straight that this sits in a particular family of difficulties rather than being general worry.
That matters practically for two reasons. First, it responds well to specific approaches, better than to general reassurance. Second, general reassurance can make it worse: every time you check again and feel briefly better, the loop is reinforced. That is why the relief never lasts and the checking grows.
The usual direction of work is not to stop checking by force but to sit with the discomfort of not checking for progressively longer. It is uncomfortable and it works, but it goes better with someone alongside you.
Given it is affecting your timekeeping and daily function, I would suggest raising it with a doctor as well as booking a session. Both, not one or the other.
