Confidentiality
Is counseling confidential,
and where does confidentiality end?
What stays private, what is written down, who can see booking and payment records, and the two situations where confidentiality has limits.
- Session content
- Confidential
- Recording
- Sessions not recorded
- Family told
- Nothing, without your agreement
- Limits
- Risk to life, or law
Counseling sessions at The Bonding Corner are private, and session content is not shared with family, employers or anyone else without your agreement. Confidentiality has limits where there is a serious risk to life or a legal requirement. Booking and payment records are handled separately from session content.

The short answer
What stays between you and the counselor
What you discuss in a session is confidential. It is not shared with your family, your spouse, your employer or anyone else without your agreement, and the practice does not contact anyone on your behalf.
Sessions are not recorded. In a joint session, what is said is heard by everyone present, and the practice does not hold secrets for one participant against another.
Records are kept apart
Three different kinds of information, handled separately.
- Session content. Professional notes, seen by the psychologist.
- Booking records. The appointment itself, seen by whoever administers bookings.
- Payment records. Amount and reference, handled through the payment route you used.
- Messages you send on WhatsApp or by email also sit on those services and on your own device.
Where confidentiality ends
Two limits apply, and any responsible practice works under the same ones. They are narrow, and they are stated before you start rather than discovered later.
- Where there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else’s.
- Where disclosure is required by law.
Outside those two situations, what you say stays in the session.
Your side
Privacy on a shared phone or in a shared home
The practice controls its side. Most of the practical risk sits at yours, and it is worth thinking through before the first session.
Who else uses the device
A text chat plan leaves a readable record on your phone. If that is a problem, a call may be the safer format.
Who else hears the room
Headphones mean only your side of the conversation is audible. A parked car works when the house does not.
What appears on a statement
A payment appears wherever the payment was made from. Think about who else sees that account.
Browser and notifications
Notification previews and browser history are the two things people most often forget.
What is written down
Professional notes are kept for counseling work. They are not part of the website, are not visible to anyone administering bookings, and are not shared with your family.
What exactly is recorded, how long it is kept and how to ask for a copy are set out in the privacy policy, which is still being finalised.
If a privacy question affects whether you book at all, ask it on the free introductory call first.

What the research says
- Professional ethics codes for psychologists treat confidentiality as a primary obligation, with limits that must be explained to you, such as a serious risk to your life or someone else's. [1]

Questions, answered
Questions people ask.
Will my family find out that I had a session?
The practice does not contact your family, and session content stays confidential within the limits described in the privacy policy. Consider what appears on a shared phone, a shared bank statement or a browser history at your own end.
Is online counseling confidential in Pakistan?
Session content is treated as confidential within the limits set out in the privacy policy. Privacy also depends on your side: a room where you are not overheard matters as much as the policy does.
Will my family be told I am attending?
No. Nothing is reported to your family, your spouse, your in-laws or your employer by this practice.
Are there any limits to confidentiality?
Yes. Confidentiality can be set aside where there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else’s, a risk to a child, or a legal order requiring disclosure. Only what is necessary is shared, only with people who can act, and you are told unless telling you would increase the risk.
Is WhatsApp text counseling private?
The practice treats it as confidential, but the messages also sit on your own phone. If others use your device, that record is the weaker point rather than the practice.
Does my employer find out?
No. This is a private practice, sessions are paid for by you, and nothing is reported to an employer or an insurer.
Are sessions recorded?
Recording is not part of how sessions are run here. If you have a specific concern about it, raise it before booking.
How do I keep sessions private at home?
Audio-only sessions are less conspicuous than video, headphones help, and WhatsApp text avoids speaking aloud altogether. Many clients choose the format for this reason rather than for bandwidth.
