Timing

When the connection is patchy

In Quetta, mobile data can be slow or interrupted, and a video call is not always possible. That should not decide whether you can talk to someone.

Audio-only calls need far less data, and a WhatsApp text plan works on any connection. Sessions run from 6pm to midnight Monday to Saturday, and from 11am on Sunday.

Practical details

  • Individual sessions run 60 minutes, couple sessions 90.
  • Audio only is a normal choice, and uses far less data.
  • A WhatsApp text plan is an option when no private hour exists at all.
  • Sessions run Monday to Saturday from 6pm to 12am and Sunday from 11am to 12am, Pakistan time. Messages are answered every day from 7am to 12am.

If in-person care is the better option

Quetta has psychiatry services at Sandeman Provincial Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital. If medical assessment, medication or urgent attention is needed, that is the right route, and this practice will say so. In an emergency, call Edhi on 115 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

What the research says

  • Most people living with a mental health condition do not receive effective care. Only about one in three people with depression gets formal mental health care. [1]
  • A 2018 systematic review comparing guided internet-based and face-to-face cognitive behavioural therapy found the two formats gave broadly equivalent results, while noting more research is still needed for some conditions. [2]
